What Do You Care About?

Most of us are not activists.

We don't spend our weekends marching. We don't sign every petition that appears in our inbox and we don't spend our days arguing about politics with everyone we meet.

But we do have opinions. We have experiences, concerns, hopes, frustrations and ideas about how life could be better. We care about our families, our communities and the future of the places we live.

The problem is that we rarely get asked.

What Do You Care About? is a simple attempt to ask and to listen.

We want to understand what matters to people, what concerns them, what gives them hope and what they think could be improved. We are not here to tell you what to think, persuade you to support a particular cause or argue that your experiences are wrong.

We are here to listen.

As more people share their views, we will begin to build a picture of what people care about, where concerns overlap, where priorities differ and where common ground exists. We will look for patterns, recurring themes and ideas that could help improve people's lives.

We don't expect everyone to agree. In fact, disagreement is often useful. But before we debate solutions, it helps to understand what people are actually trying to achieve and why it matters to them.

This project starts with a simple question:

What do you care about?
